Delta is starting to show signs of coming out of the gas intoxication as I reach my mansion. I rush inside and lock the door, then quickly head for the entertainment lounge that holds the concealed door to get down to the basement.

Other than this entrance, there is only one other way to the rooms in the basement, but its exterior door is all but concealed by the thorny brambles I found Delta in. No one would fight their way through them to find it, and if Delta were to escape, it would be impossible for her to get past the door and fight through them.

The small steps leading down into the basement are far easier to negotiate in this form than they would have been with the legs I used to have, and it takes me just seconds to descend into the darkness. My eyes adjust easily to the change in light, and I find my way easily to the room I seek. But I’d find that room even with my eyes closed. I’ve come to it so many times in the past year, numerous times a day whilst making preparations for this very moment. I shudder with anticipation.

It’s damp and cold in this corridor, but I have installed a log heater that I connected to an ancient fireplace in the main entertainment room located directly above the torture room. I like luxury. The whole mansion has been updated, but I thought fire might come in handy for the torture I planned to inflict on the human female I procured, and I needed a flume to expel the smoke. If I had a fire down here, no one would be any the wiser if I kept the ancient fireplace up above it and linked their chimneys.

When I reach the torture chamber, Delta is minutes away from becoming fully aware again. I have to work fast. Laying her down on the table in the centre of the torture room, I quickly restrain her wrists and ankles using leather bindings I’d made from creature hides. Once this is done, I take a moment to gather myself.

Looking down at the restrained female, I can’t quite believe it. It’s taken a year, but I’ve done it—I’ve got myself a human. Now I have all the time in the world to reap my revenge. I can take all my anger and pent-up frustrations out on her. It doesn’t matter that she isn’t the one that stabbed the gem into my heart. It doesn’t matter she wasn’t the one who damned me forever more in this monstrous form. All that matters is I have a human female—and she is mine—to forever torment.

I glance at the huge mirror on the wall opposite me. I fitted it to taunt the female I held prisoner. To make her watch while I tortured her. But all it does is torture me every time I see my own reflection and I’m reminded of what I am.

Turning around, I get onto the large round bed opposite the table and coil up my lower body beneath me.
